113 Nigerian health workers infected with coronavirus

Minister of Health, Ehanire Osagie, on Thursday, announced that 113 Nigerian health workers have tested positive for Coronavirus.

The Minister revealed this during COVID-19 Presidential Task Force briefing on Thursday.

According to him, the infected health workers are mostly from private hospitals and represent about 6 per cent of the total 1,728 infected persons.

Osagie said; “Latest figures we have is that there are about 113 people in the health sector infected with COVID-19. Although they are not all public health workers, there are good numbers from private hospitals.

“If you hear us speaking here frequently against trying to treat coronavirus in private clinics, we are referring to those people who do so without having necessary precautions and training because they risk infecting themselves including their families.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, on Thursday confirmed 207 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

Nigeria, at the moment has a tally of 1932 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 58 deaths recorded.
