Coronavirus: Death toll in Africa hits 1,390 as cases rise to 31,023 on continent

The Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has said that there are now 31,023 confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in 52 countries across Africa.

The health agency stated this in a tweet on its official Twitter handle on Sunday evening.

According to the tweet, COVID-19 has killed 1,390 people in Africa, while a total of 9,328 patients have recovered from the deadly disease across the continent.

Africa CDC COVID-19 dashboard showed that South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, and Cameroon have continued to top the list of countries with the highest reported Coronavirus cases.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced another 81 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing to 1,273 the number of confirmed cases in the country as of Saturday night.
