Coronavirus: Kebbi Govt reveals details of index case

The Kebbi State Government has confirmed the first index case of COVID-19 in the State.

Governor Atiku Bagudu, while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, said the index case was one of the 13 samples sent to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Abuja for a test.

He said the victim is a 40-year-old man who has a travel history from Lagos State.

The Governor added that measures were in place to trace contacts of the victim.

“The victim is a 40-year-old man with a travel history to Lagos State.

“He has been sent to the isolation center.

“I, therefore, urge people of the state to continue observing the precautionary measures against COVID-19, including washing of hands, social distances, use of face masks and use of hand sanitizer,” he said.

He further appealed to the residents to avoid crowded places and all forms of public gathering.

The NCDC, on Sunday confirmed first case of Coronavirus in Kebbi State as number of cases hit 1,273 in Nigeria.
