COVID-19: Africa’s toll hits 30,329 as South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria top list

The Africa Centre for Disease Control (Africa CDC) has said that the number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Africa has risen to over 30,329 in the past 24 hours in 52 countries across the continent.

Africa CDC gave the update on its official Twitter account on Sunday.

According to the tweet, COVID-19 had killed 1374 people, while 9106 patients have recovered.

“#COVID2019 update (9 am EAT 26 April 2020).

“52 @_AfricanUnion Member States reporting 30329 cases, 1374 deaths, and 9106 recoveries,’’ it said.

Africa CDC COVID-19 dashboard showed that South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, and Cameroon have continued to top the list of countries with the highest reported Coronavirus cases on the continent.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced that another 87 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the last 24 hours, bringing to 1,182 the number of confirmed cases in the country as of Saturday night.
