The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has accused the Federal Government of not helping the state in its current situation.
Ganduje said that the Federal Government has abandoned the state in the fight against COVID-19 ravaging the state.
Ganduje made the allegation in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service on Monday in Kano.
The governor said that the Presidential Taskforce led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, has not supported collaborating with the state Task Force in terms of checking the spread of the disease.
‘’The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control COVID -19 testing laboratory at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital has been shut for almost a week and we are not able to conduct the test and send to Abuja for analysis.
“The Presidential Taskforce is yet to do anything about this despite my complaints, ‘’ Ganduje told BBC Hausa.
He further revealed that the state has applied to the Federal Government for N15bn to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Governor disclosed that the NCDC Director-General, Chikwe Ihekweazu , was in Kano last week and saw the situation but the state was yet to hear any response in terms of the centre and any support.
Asked whether he has got in touch with the President on the issue, Ganduje said Mustapha, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Health Minister, Osagie Ehanire, have been informed.
