COVID-19: CSO tasks NSCDC officers in Kaduna to observe social distancing rules

A civil rights group, Emergency Intervention Group on Tuesday, advised officers and men of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kaduna State Command, to ensure regular hand washing, maintain social distancing and use of face masks as they go about their routine of maintaining law and order in the state.

This, according to the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) will protect officers from contracting COVID-19.

Speaking during the sensitization program for officers and men at the Kaduna State headquarters of the command on Tuesday, pharmacist Aisha Isyaku, called on all personnel to adhere strictly to the professional advice and government directives on mitigating the rising incidence of the pandemic.

She urged the operatives of the command to be cautious while in the field, offices and houses calling on them to report suspected cases for prompt attention.

Earlier in an address, State Coordinator of the team, Adamu Idrisu Chado, tasked personnel of the command to consider the pandemic as a serious health disaster that requires the attention of all and sundry.

He advised that it is better to prevent COVID -19 than manage it, stressing that for now, there is no vaccine to cure the disease.

Responding, State Commandant of Corps, Babangida Abdullahi Dutsinma, appreciated the CSOs for their sacrifices in the discharge of voluntary services in the state and the nation for the sake of humanity.

He promised to complement their efforts by providing security cover for members anytime such need arises.

Dutsinma called on the CSOs to extend the sensitization program to every resident across the nooks and crannies of Kaduna State to forestall the spread of the disease

He also advised them to reach out to people across the state on the need to obey the lockdown order by the federal and state governments, noting that it has helped in the reducing the spread of COVID-19 in Kaduna State.
