COVID-19: Nigerian Senate honours, prays for late health workers

Nigeria Senate on Tuesday observed a minute silence in honour of health workers who lost their lives in the battle against COVID-19.

The upper chamber also lauded the effort of those currently battling the dreaded disease.

Senate leader, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, through order 43 of the Senate rules explained the hazards Nigerian doctors were passing through in the course of battling the coronavirus pandemic, saying that they have demonstrated rare courage.

“Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, you are aware of the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the country and how our health workers are working hard to curtail the pandemic.

“I rise through Order 43 to request this hallowed chamber to observe a minute silence for the health workers who lost their lives in line of battle and to also appreciate those working to curtail the pandemic despite the hazard”

Reacting, Senate President, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan commended all the health workers across the country for their effort, and ordered for a minute silence.
