The Ekiti State government led by Governor, Kayode Fayemi has ordered the closure of Victory College, Ilawe Ekiti, in the Ekiti South West Local Government Area of the state for flouting COVID-19 directives by resuming school activities.
The order to seal the school premises for allegedly violating standing directives on the closure of schools as a result of the pandemic was issued by the state government of Friday.
This was confirmed in a statement on Sunday by the Assistant Director, Information, Kunle Adeniyi, who said that the proprietor of the school who was discovered to be organising extramural classes for pupils in total violation of the subsisting government directive, is now on the run.

The government also said the proprietor of the private school “will face the wrath of the law for the violation of COVID-19 protocols in the state whenever he is apprehended.”
According to the Commissioner for Education, security agents were already on the trail of the proprietor.
This came days after the Ekiti State threatened to return the state to lockdown mode due to lapses noticed in adherence to COVID-19 directives.
This was revealed in a statement last Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Muyiwa Olumilua who said that the state was considering the move following perceived lackadaisical attitudes being exhibited towards the preventive guidelines stipulated by the World Health Organization, WHO, to curb the spread of COVID-19.
