The Federal Government has evacuated another batch of 289 Nigerians from the United States.
The Consul-General of Nigeria in New York, Benaoyagha Okoyen, who confirmed the development to journalists on Wednesday, said an Ethiopian Airlines plane conveying the returnees took off from New Jersey on Tuesday night and was expected to land at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, later in the day.
The exercise was the fourth since the federal government commenced the evacuation of the country’s nationals from the US and brought the total number of Nigerians that had returned home from America to 1,095.

According to Okoyen, two families were dropped from the flight for failing to present COVID-19 test results, which is a key requirement for the exercise.

The flights are expected to depart from Texas and New Jersey on July 31 and August 7 respectively.
