Foreign affairs minister, Onyeama donates medical equipment, palliatives to Enugu

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, on Sunday donated medical equipment to the Enugu State Government in support of measures to curtail the fight against the coronavirus disease.

The minister also donated palliatives in the form of food items to orphanages, members of All Progressive Congress (APC), and other people of the State.

He said that almost everybody in Nigeria had become vulnerable on account of the ravaging Coronavirus, adding that overcoming the pandemic required the support of every Nigerian.

The medical items included Infrared thermometer, safety goggles, covid-19 test kits, as well as food items to party members and motherless babies homes in the State.

Represented by an APC chieftain in the State, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, the Minister stated that from the political, business, religious and other working class persons, the ravaging virus had touched one way or the other.

These he stated are in terms of income, investment and several other things

He stated, however, that the Federal Government had continued to do all in her ability to combat the pandemic, stressing that the gradual easing of the lockdown was a clear indication that the efforts were yielding positive fruits.

Onyeama, who stated that the distribution of the palliatives was in conjunction with the Kwusike Foundation and Kwusike political family in Enugu State, urged Nigerians to continue to show love and accommodate one another in these trying times.

He said that the foundation would continue to “create smiles on vulnerable people”, adding that there was no better way of combating the virus than abiding by highest hygiene protocols.

Receiving the items on behalf of the State government, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of health, Dr Ifeanyi Agujiobi, praised the Minister and assured him of the State government’s support.

He said that the medical items would go a long way in assisting the State overcome the ravaging virus, pointing out that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi had demonstrated capacity to deal with the situation.
