The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Saturday upheld the election of Yahaya Bello as Kogi State governor.
A five-man panel of the appellate court dismissed the appeals filed by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Action Peoples Party (APP), and the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) for lack of merit.

The PDP candidate, Musa Wada, asked the court to upturn Bello’s victory in the election over alleged widespread irregularities while Natasha Akpoti of the SDP challenged her disqualification from the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The state’s election petitions tribunal had earlier this year upheld the governor’s victory in the election held on November 16, 2019.
