Keyamo speaks on job loss due to COVID-19

The Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, on Friday, said the Federal Government is working hard to minimize the loss of jobs in Nigeria due to Coronavirus pandemic.

Keyamo said this in his message to commemorate the celebration of Workers’ Day.

He, however, commended Nigerian workers, especially those faced by challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presently, Nigeria has a total of 1932 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, as cases continue to increase.

There have been reports online of retrenchment of workers in Private and public sectors as Coronavirus hits harder.

Keyamo, assuring workers on his Twitter page wrote: “On this auspicious occasion of International Workers’ Day, 2020, I wish to praise the resilience and patriotism of Nigerian workers in the face of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are working hard to ensure we minimize the negative impact of the pandemic on jobs.”
