Kneeling, other stunts won’t save Oshiomhole — Edo Deputy Gov

The Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, said on Wednesday no amount of kneeling and other stunts would save the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, and his new bride, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, from defeat in the September 19 governorship election in the state.

Shaibu, who stated this during a campaign rally that started from Benin City and ended at Jattu, Etsako West local government area of the state, however, noted that the PDP campaign would be issue-based with a focus on performance.

Oshiomhole had said last Sunday he regretted his mistake of supporting Governor Godwin Obaseki in 2016.

The ex-APC chairman told some party members in Benin he supported the governorship aspiration of Obaseki four years ago to ensure the continuity of his projects and programmes.

However, the deputy governor insisted that the election would present Edo people the opportunity to decide the future of their unborn children and not a time to think about pecuniary gains and egos of wannabe godfathers.

He said: “No amount of kneeling and other stunts will save the former national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, and his candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, from defeat.”

He added that the ex-governor masterminded their disqualification from the APC governorship primaries last month.
