Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state on Friday confirmed eight new cases of Coronavirus also known as COVID-19 in the state.
Makinde made this announcement in a series of tweets on his Twitter handle on Friday night.
Makinde noted that two cases of Coronavirus were recorded on Thursday while eight new cases were recorded on Friday.
The two cases recorded on Thursday were that of a doctor at the University College Hospital (UCH) who returned from Kano state and a personnel of the Department of State Security Service (DSS).
“We have started receiving results of pending COVID-19 confirmation tests. Two tests came back positive late last night. One from a UCH doctor who returned from Kano and another is a worker with the State Security Service.
Makinde who spoke further said that out of the eight new cases of Coronavirus confirmed on Friday, six were Togolese while two were residents of the state who reside in Ogbomoso.
He noted that the number of active cases had risen to twenty.
“Another eight tests came back positive today. Of the eight newly confirmed cases, six are Togolese nationals and the remaining two are Oyo State residents in Ogbomoso.
“In addition to the case recorded in Lagos which was announced yesterday, another confirmed case recorded in Kano is also being managed in Oyo State. This brings the number of active cases in Oyo State to twenty.

Ten people have been discharged after testing negative twice.
