The Niger State House of Assembly Ad-hoc Committee on COVID-19 on Monday directed the chairman and all members of the state’s task force on the pandemic to appear before it July 16.
The committee gave the directive following the absence of some key members of the task force at a scheduled interactive meeting with the lawmakers.
The Chairman of the state’s Task Force on COVID-19, Alhaji Ahmed Matane, had led some members of the team to the meeting to update the committee on its activities and expenditure.
However, the Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Malik Bosso, expressed displeasure at the absence of majority of the members of the task force earlier invited to brief the committee on its activities.

He noted that out of the 35 members of the taskforce only 11 members were present at the meeting.
The chairman added that out of 11 commissioners that were members of the taskforce only four were present at the forum.
He said: “We were assigned to interface with the taskforce on COVID-19; therefore, we must take the assignment seriously to get adequate information. Therefore, we cannot proceed until they are complete.
Bosso said the state’s commissioners for health, education, transport, and agriculture are key members of the task force, adding that the meeting could not hold in their absence.
