Ogun records 1 new COVID-19 death, confirms 2 new cases

The Ogun State government has said that the number of those who died of COVID-19 in the state has increased from 4 to 5.

This is as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), announced 2 new cases of the virus in the state.

Confirming the NCDC report, the Ogun State Government disclosed that the total number of confirmed cases so far in the state is now 117.

The Ogun State Ministry of Health had earlier announced that a total of 35 patients, who tested negative to the virus twice, had been discharged to rejoin their families.

“Currently, there are 77 active cases being handled in the treatment and isolation centres set up across the state, as the state ministry continues contact tracing, in order to curb community spread of the coronavirus.

“The state has recorded a total of 5 COVID-19 related deaths.

“The general public is advised to keep maintaining social distancing as the use of face masks alone may not avert the risk of infection,” the state government said, in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on New Media, Emmanuel Ojo.
