Police officer dies of Coronavirus at Abeokuta’s FMC

A Police Officer has died from coronavirus (COVID-19) complications at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The Head of Public Relations at FMC, Segun Orisajo, confirmed the death of the unnamed police officer in a statement on Sunday morning.

He disclosed that the officer died at the facility three days ago when he was brought in.

Orisajo added that the officer’s COVID-19 test result returned positive on Sunday morning.

This brings the total number of deaths in the state to two.

“His body is being prepared for release to his family for burial in strict compliance with the World Health Organization’s guidelines.

“All staff, who came in contact with the deceased, are currently on self-isolation,” the statement read in part.

DAILY POST recalls that the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Abeokuta on Saturday confirmed that two of its workers, a nurse and an administrative staff tested positive for coronavirus.

 

As of Sunday morning, Ogun State had recorded 115 cases of COVID-19 with two deaths so far.
