Some youths of Eleko community in the Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State on Monday commenced violent protests over the COVID-19 lockdown.
The protesters were said to have engaged in a faceoff with security officials trying to enforce the lockdown in the area.
DAILY POST gathered that the youths mounted roadblocks with bonfires at different locations on the road leading to some companies, including the Dangote refinery in the area.
They accused the security officials enforcing the lockdown of being biased, saying expatriates were allowed to go to their places of work while residents were forced to stay in their houses.
However, reports say the situation has been brought under control as police have succeeded in dispersing the protesters.
With heavy security at the scene, passersby are forced to raise their hands before being allowed to walk through the road.
